Serving in Ukraine

MY MINISTRY

May 4, 2020, all my desires, dreams and goals died; my husband finished his race. No longer a wife or caregiver, what was my purpose? God had a plan. He allowed for the hardest valley and brought me through with new desires, new dreams, new goals and a burden.

January 2023, I took my first mission trip to a country in war-torn Ukraine, knowing God was in every step. I came back with a desire and a dream.

March 2023, I took my second trip to Ukraine to come back with goals and a burden.

The burden comes from the Lord. Prior to the war, February 2022, I wasn’t even sure where Ukraine was located or what language they spoke? Missionary Kevin Smith began sharing videos, telling and showing what all was taking place there. I now know where Ukraine is, I know what languages they speak. Now when I look at a clock I automatically think, oh it’s this time in Ukraine. The people there are daily in my thoughts and prayers. Almost daily I am speaking with someone from Ukraine my new-found friends and family.

God has given me a new purpose to love and serve the people of Ukraine - to show them a relationship with Jesus instead of a religion. God has revealed a plan as He has been preparing my heart and my circumstances. He also prepared connections, long before I would know the need - connections right in the heart of Odessa, Ukraine with Missionaries Kevin and Natalka Smith. Having served with them twice, the tragedies I have already witnessed is beginning a harvest of souls and oh so much more as the war continues.

What is my role? A ministry of encouragement and helps to believers who have been in the trenches of war, to know they are not forgotten. For the people of Ukraine, especially the older generation, the women and the innocent ones, the children, to show them and teach them the love of Christ. I am not what some would call a traditional missionary; however, my Abba Father has given me a life of preparation for such a time as this. I have life experience that relates with many: whether it be as a widow, or have a loved one who was an addict or drunkard, divorce, wayward child, we all have hurts, losses and grief and we all need Hope – Jesus!

So, pray and if God asks you to support where He is leading me and where He has asked me to serve, then give and we are both being obedient unto Him.

Look up, Keep serving Jesus, He is Worthy!
