NINA KATOMBELA
Serving with Impact Africa
MY MINISTRY
In January 2023, I stepped into full-time missions in Johannesburg, South Africa, serving on staff with Impact Africa. I first started with Impact Africa as an intern in 2021 and fell in love with this country and the fruitful ministry.
My role within the organization is Impact Mission Adventure Coordinator. This branch of the ministry is focused on organizing and hosting our short-term mission groups that come through the organization to serve with us. I get to be closely involved with our door-to-door evangelism, outreach, and helping mobilize others to take part in what God is doing across the communities of Johannesburg. Throughout the year, I work alongside our national staff, interns, local churches, and short-term mission teams to help facilitate the preaching of the Gospel in the local squatter camps.
Each year, we welcome over 20 mission teams from around the world who come to serve in South Africa through community outreach, children's ministry, practical service, and relational evangelism. Every team becomes part of a larger, year-round strategy while partnering with local churches and leaders who continue walking alongside individuals and families long after a mission team returns home.
One of the greatest privileges of my life is being able to step into communities, sit with people in their homes, hear their stories, pray with families, and share the hope of Jesus. I have seen firsthand that God is moving powerfully in South Africa, and I am continually reminded that the harvest is plentiful. And now, I get to do this on a much larger scale as I help facilitate the ministry and guide conversations with all of the short-term guests who come through our missions program.
Another role I serve in is Outreach Kids Coordinator. I have the honor of facilitating our kids evangelism efforts. We host small street corner kids programs as well as large scale VBS styled events for kids with a mission for kids to hear about God and have the opportunity to give their lives to Jesus. Interns, national staff, and short term guests all participate in these efforts to spread the love of Jesus to the at risk, vulnerable, and neglected kids in the squatter camps.
On a personal note, I have really been able to make South Africa my home over the past five years. I met my husband, Aaron, at the local church I go to in 2023, and we got married in December 2025. Aaron is Congolese but was born and raised in South Africa. We both serve in our church and have a passion for being faithful and obedient to God’s call on our lives. We love living in South Africa and have such a great community of friends and family here.
As a career missionary, I am supported by a team of individuals, families, churches, and friends who believe in this mission and choose to partner with me financially and through prayer. Monthly financial partners make it possible for me to continue living and serving full-time in South Africa by helping cover my ministry and living expenses.
When you partner with me, you are becoming part of this mission. You are helping send the Gospel into communities, strengthen long-term ministry, equip missionaries to serve effectively, and make it possible for me to stay planted here in South Africa. I would be honored to have you join my partnership team through monthly giving, one-time support, and prayer. Please feel free to reach out, I would love to chat and talk more about the ministry happening here!
