Glenn arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a unique vision to take his 28-years experience in both youth and men's ministry and intentionally merge the two together.  The reason is simple:  the current statistics say that 1/3 of South Africa's population is 15 years old and younger, which means there is an immense void of older role models investing in lives of young people.  This vision seeks to combine the maturity and stability of adult leadership with the dynamic youthful exuberance of teenage students - this is the very heart of CORE's strategic potency.

CORE'S mission is this:  Help students get and keep God first in their lives by becoming passionate worshipers, proven disciple-makers and purposeful leaders.

As with many stories, CORE emerged from very humble beginnings.  CORE actually began over coffee with a conversation between two 10th grade boys and Glenn Campbell, an American youth pastor.  The discussion involved equipping and empowering high school students to reach their friends with the life-changing message of the gospel.  The young men were stirred.  As a result, CORE'S  foundation was purposefully built upon a small group multiplication model.  Glenn began to lead a weekly small group using basic transferable leadership principles.  Students and adult leaders, as well as new groups, were added over a period of six months.

The next step in establishing a significant youth ministry movement in the city was to initiate a weekly student and adult leadership gathering to develop and strategically place leadership teams to concentrate on various high school campuses.

The final step was to establish a dynamic, weekly worship gathering for students.

Two years later, our CORE weekly worship gathering involves nearly 350 students and nearly 70 adult leaders.  There are more than 400 students participating in small groups after worship gatherings or at high school campuses throughout the week and all around the city.
