I didn’t spend my entire life wanting to be a missionary, and I thought when I retired I would settle down as a pastor to a small town church. That is not the plan God had for me. When I went on a short-term missionary trip to Peru, with my granddaughter, God called me to come and share his love with the people of Peru. I went back home and made plans to retire from my job and move to Peru. My first year in Peru I helped with serving the people of Jicamarca and teaching English classes to the kids there. Then I had the opportunity to visit a Christian boys home in the Amazon jungle. Once again, God spoke to me. I was invited to move to the jungle and be the house “mom” to the boys there. Since moving to the jungle, my greatest joy has been to serve those here who have little hope for a future and to share God’s love and His vision for a new world. I so enjoy teaching the boys and helping them to reach out to local tribes in Sharing God’s love thus helping to bring God’s kingdom to this part of the world. I would have never dreamed this would something I would do, but it has been the happiest part of my life! I look forward to further sharing in what God is doing here in Peru!
